Location of the Kirthar National Park, Karachi
Adorning the foothills of the Kirthar Mountain Ranges lies the vast sylvan stretches of the Kirthar National Park. Lying between the Karchi and Dadu district this popular natioanl park happens to be the 2nd largest national reserve in Pakistan. Known for its wide variety of mammals, birds and reptiles characteristic of the arid subtropics.There are two tourist centers in the Kirthar Park , namely Khar and Karchat both of which are monitored by the Sind Managing Board. Landing at the Karachi international Airport the tourist needs to take the Super highway which leads to the depths of this eerie forest.
Flora and fauna at Kirthar National Park, Karachi: being one of the best acclaimed national parks of the world enlisted by the United Nations Kirthar boasts of a multicolored flora and is a real treasure trove of wild habitat. Tourists can find a habitat of rare species that include the Sind Ibex, Chin Kara, Gazelles, Leopards, Wildsheep, urial sheep, ibex and chinkara gazelle. Jungle cats, desert cats,Black Buck etc. Just for the hungry ornithologist the prk has a huge variety of birds like Bonnelli's eagle, Griffon vulture, Egyptian vulture, Close-Barred sandgrouse, Houbara bustard, Grey partridge, Stone Curlew, Finche larks, Hoopoe, shrikes just to name a few.
