Lahore is the capital of the province of Punjab and is popularly known as the Gardens of the Mughals or City of Gardens. It is also the second most densely populated city in Pakistan and has a rich heritage of the Mughal Empire. Lahore has a unique culture because of its history. Lahore is an extremely festive city that blends Mughal, western and current trends. National Horse and Cattle Show, Lahore is one of the most famous annual festival of Lahore. The show is generally held in Spring in the Fortress Stadium. During the week of the National Horse and Cattle Show, Lahore there is a display of livestock, horse and camel dance.
The festival also include tent pegging, colorful folk dances from all regions of Pakistan and a mass-band disply and tatto show in the evening. Tent pegging is an ancient cavalry sport. After eight years the National Horse and Cattle Show, Lahore has recently been opened at the Fortress Stadium. The show begins with a colorful note with engrossing presentation of a variety of events that include children calisthenics display and a cavalcade of the livestock of the country to display the wealth of the country. There is also a free fall performance by Army Commandos.
This is a five day show and is watched by the members of the punjab cabinet, administrative secretaries and high ranking military officials. The day time main event includes unity show, army band display, calisthenics, cavalcade of livestock, grey hound race, folk dance, tent pegging, motorcycle trick-riding by the military police, bullock cart race, horse and camel dance and free fall by army paratroopers.
